Claim Process Guide

What to do, in what order, when you need to make a claim.

A claim is a process, not an event. Handled in the right order, most valid claims settle without difficulty.

Step 1 — Intimate early

Notify the insurer as soon as possible. For planned hospitalisation, notify before admission. For accidents and theft, notify immediately and register an FIR where required.

Step 2 — Assemble documents

Policy copy, ID proof, claim form, and the event-specific records: discharge summary and bills for health, death certificate for life, surveyor report for property, FIR for motor theft.

Step 3 — Verification

The insurer reviews the file and may raise queries or depute an investigator. Respond quickly and completely; unanswered queries are the most common reason a claim sits still.

Step 4 — Follow-up

Track the claim reference and keep a written record of every exchange.

Step 5 — Settlement

The insurer settles, or gives written reasons. If a claim is repudiated, there is a grievance and ombudsman route available.

Insure Pillar assists at every one of these steps. The final decision on any claim rests with the insurer and is governed by the policy wording and applicable regulations.
